Four and a half years ago we fired up our first Delaval Classic robots at Gernes Farms near Winona MN. They are milking with four robots, two OptiDuo feed refreshers, two Delaval swinging cow brushes, and much more. This is what Doug Gernes has to say about the decision to go robotic.
“Since going to the VMS classic robots in 2016 we have gained in profitability and personal freedom. The cows went from 78 pounds a cow to 95+ pounds per cow, also going from a 3.7 fat to 4.05 fat. Our cows are healthier and calmer not to mention 6 less full/part time employees. We have realized much greater efficiency per cow and overall profitability with the robots, we would never go back. We are also very pleased with the ease of maintenance and cost of ownership with our VMS Classic robots.”
